Volunteering for backpacker hostels is a great way to embrace slow travel, foster deeper and
more meaningful connections with like-minded people, learn new skills, show your talent,
and of course, save up while travelling since accommodation costs can really take a toll on
backpackers’ idea of slow travel.
However, it’s not always as easy and glamorous as it seems, especially after watching some
video on social media or reading about it.
A volunteer must possess the ability to be flexible in terms of their daily routine and food
preferences, for there’s an obvious difference between being a “Guest” and a “Volunteer” in
the travel industry.
Besides, a volunteer has to have an easy going social conduct, great communication skills,
calm demeanour, and an upbeat vibe that simply makes their company irresistible.
But having said that, we understand that all of us are humans, and that’s why it’s only fair to
treat each other like that, be it a volunteer, a guest, a janitor, or a CEO. After all, goodness is
a two-way traffic.
As you might have already read and understood about us, The Hideout Hiraeth is a fairly
young brand of offbeat hostel-cum-homestay near Manali that was started back in June,
warmth of a homestay in one place, there might be a few differences in how we function on
daily basis, especially keeping in view the balancing act of running the fairly new business
efficiently while making our best efforts to make travellers simply fall in love with the
experiences at The Hideout Hiraeth.
The work ethics of The Hideout Hiraeth team include 5 major pillars: Quality, Uniqueness,
Experience, Safety, Trustworthiness. These simply make it a Q.U.E.S.T to be a better
version of ourselves everyday, just so we can make our place feel like home for every
traveller, and of course, ourselves!
Our primary aim, from a business perspective, is to expand this concept of accommodation
across the nation through franchise models.
Till now, The Hideout Hiraeth has hosted over 1000 travellers from all parts of the world who
have gone back with some really great memories. The positive reviews across various
platforms online by travellers who stayed with us is a testament to our genuine efforts to our
